Today is day
19 of our adventure:
We are on the road again
Going to places and sights unknown
With coaches orderly and all in tow
En route we crossed the St. Croix
River which is a tidal river.
At Wolfville we all visited the Grand
Pre´ National Historical Site.
This site depicts a 17th/18th century Acadian
village with church, cemetery and scenic setting for Longfellow’s poem,
Evangeline: A Tale of Acadie. This location commemorates the
Acadian Deportation.
The Grand Pre´ was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in
2012.
Being sent into exile
Statue of Evangeline
Memorial Church
with beautiful stained glass
The resident cat of the church, Evangeline,
taking a nap as light rain fell outside
Bust of Longfellow
Herbin’s Cross.
John Herbin purchased the land in 1907 and
erected a stone cross to mark the old cemetery.
Arrived at Dunromin Campsite,
Annapolis Royal, by late afternoon
We are now settled in for two days to enjoy
the sights, sounds and tastes of the area.
