It’s July 13th
– day 21 of our trip already. Time is
flying by.
A beautiful
morning for the Saturday “Farmers Market” in Annapolis Royal. We took Madi with us and ran into most of our
guests there. Dianne and Jan found the
produce.
There were plenty of crafts and even the
Ironworks Distillery was represented (which makes Vodka & Rum) from
Lunenburg. It was a nice way to start our day before leaving for Lunenburg.
The tide was
in and the Tidal Power Plant was working as we left town. It is one of few power plants in the world
and the only one in North America. The
Annapolis Tidal Power Plant has a capacity of 20 megawatts and a daily output
of roughly 80-100 megawatt hours, depending on the tides. It has an Interpretive Center that is open to
the public so that visitors can learn about the generating station, its history
and the power of the Bay of Fundy.
Our drive
was picturesque with plenty of gardens blooming, pine trees a plenty and a few
lakes with lily ponds.
After arriving in
Lunenburg, Terry and Madi went to get a pre-ordered cake for Sandy Oeser’s
birthday. We took the opportunity to
view Lunenburg from the other side of the water – the best view of this
brightly colored seaport.
Barry cooked
off another 24 lobsters for the group.
Some folks brought their own non-lobster dinners and we all ate together
outside our motorhome.
The NASCAR race
was on the outside TV and positioning at the dinner table was key for the race.
Gunter had
beautiful flowers for Sandy and provided the cake and ice cream for dessert in
honor of her birthday. There wasn’t a
morsel left.
It’s hard to
beat days like this.
