Day 51 - Louisbourg, Nova Scotia

Fortress Louisbourg........................

After a fine day at the Fortress we were treated to a performance at
the Louisbourg Playhouse of "Getting Dark Again." 

The four artists kept us dancing, laughing and applauding for 2 hours.  We also enjoyed tea and oat cakes at intermission. 

The Playhouse was built in 1993 as a movie set for "Squanto: A Warriors Tale" by Disney Studios and fashioned after Shakespeare's "Globe Theatre" in London.  After being donated to the community, it was dismantled and moved 3 km by boat to this site in town.  Opened officially on July 12, 1994 with its original open roof.  Future improvements included a road, washrooms, dressing rooms, and heating and lighting systems.
