Day 48 - Travel Day to Grand Codroy, Newfoundland

Wake up you sleepy heads
Get up, get out of bed
Live, Love and be happy

It’s a great day to be alive and with fellow travelers on an Adventure Caravan.

We gather together for our first adventure of the day.

A trip across the road to “The Newfoundland Insectarium.”

We are met by the owner, Lloyd, who begins for us a very interesting story about butterflies.

We first see the butterflies in the birthing room where they emerge from their chrysalis

And then they move on to the room where they fly free.
“Be careful when you enter.  Don’t let even one escape”

Butterflies every where
Big ones, little ones
Bright ones and dark ones
Just enjoying themselves
For 2 ½ weeks

There are even some who are just beginning their cycle as a very small caterpillar.

Then we move on to the ants

Busy, busy they seem to be
Marching back and forth
Toting, carrying what they can
To make that fungus grow
They have to eat too, you know

We are properly introduced to many insects – big and small
Each has a job
And they give it their all
One graciously sits on Winnie’s hand and Phyllis’ too

Both the girls survive!
Don’t you know?

A little musical entertainment
To break up our day

And then it’s to the busy bee hive

To view the queen and all her subjects

Now it’s back to the park to saddle up, mount up and move out.

Some don’t go too far before they pull into a fuel station.  Is it diesel, gas or moose juice that flows from the pump into our tanks?

Back through the hills and mountains we travel.
Along the streams as it also swiftly travels

Before us lies a ribbon of highway
Giving us one last view of the magnificent tapestry known as Newfoundland

But all is well as one by one and in twos and threes we all make it safely to Grand Codroy RV Park, Newfoundland.

We end the day the way we enjoy best – food and a party.

We celebrate the anniversaries of Bill & Janice Hayhurst and Ken and Janet Cerato (warmly known as the twins) with a delicious chicken dinner provided for us by the happy couples.

Dinner was topped off with a delicious marble cake with chocolate frosting, made and decorated by none other than Terry

Since this is our last contribution to the blog, we are taking this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a big THANK YOU for traveling along with us and for sharing your time with us.

We wish you all a wonderful and safe trip wherever you go. You have our address and number, so if you are ever in our area, we’d love to have you stop in and stay awhile. We’ll leave the light on and the “Welcome Mat” out.

See you soon.
