Day 34 - travel day to Bona Vista, Newfoundland

Our beautiful travel day started at 9:30 a.m.

Through mountains and around dozens of ponds we traveled on TCH 1 then had 20 miles of hills and valleys on two lane roads.

Arriving around 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon, we were directed into our back-in sites by Barry.

Paradise Farm Trailer Park has views of fields, barns and ponds, surrounded by pines.
We were greeted by Chris, our RV Park owner, at 3:30 with a complete introduction to the area and what we would see tomorrow.

Later we enjoyed a perfect BBQ hamburger feast prepared by our wagonmaster and tailgunners and special helpers.

Chris, dressed as the town crier, came after dinner with a group of “newfies” to conduct our “Screech In” ceremony, making us honorary Newfoundlanders.  The newfies were Jan Holter, Mercedes Wilson, Judy Douglass, and Guy Grube.

The ceremony included hard tack, dried bread, roe and screech, a Newfoundland Rum that is downed in one gulp.  Screech is very strong and burns all the way down.  Our next task was to “kiss the cod” Chris had caught that morning.  It was a very wet kiss.

As Newfies we had a greater appreciation of the beautiful province of Newfoundland.

Thanks to all for providing pictures.
